Brown Sugar 07

Here is a very limited selection of photos from BS 07. I'll burn you a disc, Mickster, of the rest, and give it to you when you come out for the Idaho trip. Since you've heard all the stories, I'll mostly let the images speak for themselves, unless some clarification is needed.

Not sure what they hey he was trying to do. Actually, he lodged his fly in a tree, and I gave him the advice to turn his rod upside down and use his reel to pull the offending branch down to his level, thus enabling him to dislodge his fly. You can see the results. This provided me with quite the laugh and better yet, the sweet fishing runs, while he attempted to free his fly.

This was the largest Cutt that was caught, quite the monster...we were up nearer to the dam at this point.

Well Mickster..hope this gets you through the next few weeks...and here's to next year on the Brown Sugar!!

Big Cottonwood / Wolfcreek

Well, I was contemplating whether or not to post the names of the rivers, but a these places are not secrets, so what the heck. I fished Big Cotton wood on Wednesday, 6/13/07. When I got to the water, I immediately ran into a problem. My 6.5 foot St Croix rod was broken. Although I needed to go back to work, there was no way until I caught a fish. I touched the water, and if I didn’t catch a fish before I left, my five years of not being skunked would be ruined. I ran back to my truck and pulled out my spare fishing rod. Thank goodness! After 20minutes of fishing, I landed five fish. The fish weren’t big, but it was fun.

On 6/17/07 I got another fishing day in. This time it was near Powder Mountain in Wolf Creek. The fishing is always good they if you can handle the intense combat fishing. Here are a few pics from that experience:

Updates, New water, New river, broken rod.

Alright, I've updated every one's fishing days, even though you have not added the post of your trip, I thought I'd keep it up to date. This includes Han's broken rod trip, and Micks "new river" trip for small mouth. Below I have posted photos I took ( you guys need to start bring your cameras) from my recent trip. I've told you all the stories already, but I'll post captions by the photos to clue you in on what it was I was photographing. Get ready!! GO!

This is the first Tiger Trout I caught, up in the little tiny meadow stream. The stream was almost identical to the one pictured below, but it goose necked back and forth, instead of being to straight as the one pictured.Another photo of him, laying next to my rod, for proportions sake, notice the girth on that thing. The thing was a literal monster....It wanted my blood.
This was the second Tiger I caught, not quite as large as the first, but every bit as mean. This is Pine Creek, (below) the little cutthroat stream, I mean little as in the size of the stream, not fish. though the first one, was a bit small...then you can see the progression, as I began to key in on where the lunkers were.

Getting larger....
And larger..
and more colorful....
This was the largest Cutt, around 14.
Me, stringing up the fish the Brookie water, elevation 9000ft.
and said brookie..though upstream a bit, you get out of the pocket water, and get into some meadow areas..and the fish became a bit larger...around 12..and for a brookie..good heavens..I'll take that.
And so there's the story...4 new streams...all species of trout..and then some..all within a 30 mile radius. Anyone want to go back? I know I do.

Quick Fishing Fix (Record Time)

Rack me up for another day of fishing. This Wednesday, 5/30/07, at 11:58AM I left to go up one of the canyons to fish. I caught two identical looking bown trout about 9 inches in length. I was back at the office working at exactly 12:57PM. That's 59 minutes start to finish from my work office, which gave me around 20 minutes of fishing. Can you all do that?
